The Data for Decision Makers Fact Sheets linked
below are offered in six series for each of Iowa's 99 counties. Paper copies of
individual sheets are available only through
county offices at no cost for single copies.
Complete sets of all 99 counties may be purchased from the
Extension Distribution Center.
The original Data for Decision Makers (DD) files (second column below)
were first published in 1994 and most recently updated in September 2002. They
contain data on population demographics, education, retail sales, personal
income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics. Each
county file is 250K in size.
The Agricultural Data for Decision Makers (AGDD) files (third column) were
published in September 1999 and contain information from the 1997 Census of
Agriculture and from earlier ag censuses providing statistical profiles of
farming in each county.
The Retail Trade Data for Decision Makers (RTDD) files (fourth column)
also were updated in December 2003 and contain 2003 information profiling
retail trade in each county.
The Employment and Earnings Data for Decision Makers (EEDD) files (fifth
column) were published in December 2000 and contain 1998, 1990, and 1980
information on the working population and earnings in each county.
The Child and Family Data for Decision Makers (CFDD) files (sixth column)
were published in March 2003, with revisions to contact information in June
2003. They contain data on 2000 population, demographics, family income and
poverty levels in each county.
The Older Iowans Data for Decision Makers (OIDD) files (last column) were
published in October 2003 and contain information on Iowa's population aged 55
and older, including income, employment and housing data.
Each file is approximately 60K in size and is set up to print on four 8-1/2 x 11
pages (two pages for EEDD series). Online versions of all four series have been
updated to reflect changes in telephone area codes that took effect in Iowa in
2000 and 2001. Because of extensive data tables included in these files, they
are not compatible with screen readers used by persons with visual
disabilities.
