This pamphlet is a recruiting tool, explaining the RPES process in simplified terms. It emphasizes that grade-level determinations for research positions are made by a panel of scientists rather than by an employee's supervisor.

This pamphlet is a tool to help supervisors of Category 1 employees recognize and fulfill their many responsibilities under RPES. Copies are also made available to research scientists to facilitate mutual understanding.
