Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

Program Overview

TANF is a federal/state partnership in providing temporary assistance to families. TANF services are focused on strengthening families through promoting work as a path to independence. This program is funded by ACF's Office of Family Assistance (OFA) and is administered by states, which may set their own eligibility rules and policies.

Tribal Services

To find out if your tribe receives funding to administer TANF programs, please contact the Region 10 TANF team.

Seattle Regional Office Roles and Contacts

The Region 10 Office of the Administration for Children and Families performs the following administrative activities for this program:

  • sets program standards
  • evaluates grantee performance in conducting the program
  • offers technical assistance and training to grantees
