AnnouncementsI Am Moving, I Am Learning (IMIL) TrainingWe are pleased to announce another opportunity for I Am Moving, I Am Learning (IMIL) training. I Am Moving, I Am Learning provides concrete methods for introducing a program to prevent and reverse childhood obesity. We will be covering strategies and resources to promote physical movement and healthy nutritional choices into your classroom activities. Participants from last December's training reported they gained practical information for implementation, including program and policy guidance and new skills in working with staff, children and families. I Am Moving, I Am Learning training will be held from January 13 - 15, 2009 in Seattle at the Sea-Tac Airport Holiday Inn. This 2 ½ day training is open to grantees who did not attend the IMIL training in Seattle in December, 2007. Each grantee is invited to send a team of up to five staff members, including managers and a parent lead, if possible, to participate in the training and return to their programs ready to share and implement their I Am Moving, I Am Learning action plan. Programs will be reimbursed 50% of grantee expenses by the Office of Head Start and part of the meals will be provided as part of the conference. Additional support for costs to programs is yet to be determined. Supporting Families: AdvocacyThe transcript for the conference call on advocacy is now available.
