Congressional Briefing Series

The USGS Congressional Briefing Series began in 1999, in order to increase Congressional awareness of the role and relevance of USGS science in the public policy debate and to ensure that science is at the table when Congress is making decisions. The Office of Communications coordinates the series, working with USGS scientists and key partners in other government and non-government organizations to demonstrate how USGS science is used to support decisions at many levels across the Nation. Each year, the series presents approximately four briefings on specific topics ranging from avian influenza and earthquakes to Landsat and ground water. This website provides links to the briefings; it includes links to presentations, biographies of speakers, partner and sponsor websites, and other information for each briefing.
