The Intel Corporate Library offers access to full-text articles, books and papers for Intel employees worldwide.
Problem: Complicated Multi-Source Searching Led to Frustrated Users
Accessing online information required employees to use multiple research products with different user interfaces and results displays. Employees not only needed to know which product to use to conduct their search, they were also required to manually correlate and eliminate duplications. This was time-consuming, frustrating and employees often reported the search tools “broken or too limited.” Intel needed a search solution that offered several key features—a familiar, easy-to-use interface, powerful optimization of results reporting and the ability to securely integrate search results from a wide range of sources including internal databases.
Solution: An Easy-to-Use, Integrated Federated Search Engine
“Deep Web Technologies’ products and services substantially contributed to our success. Through integrating Deep Web’s federated search engine, we have achieved seamless federated search capability integration with our library portal. We also have a manageable and sustainable federated search solution that we can build on for the future.”
--Barclay Hill, Manager, Intel Library Web & Systems Group
Intel chose Deep Web Technologies for its federated search solution because of their proven technology, a focus on building customer successes and their feature-rich search product, Explorit Research Accelerator. Deep Web Technologies’ federated search engine was easily integrated into the Intel library’s “OneSearch” portal. Search activity increased during the first quarter of 2007 and employees are requesting that the search capabilities be expanded even further.
