A Virtual Potluck

Do you have a treasured family recipe you would like to share with a community of millions of Web users?

[A family enjoys a potluck]. From The Great American Potluck. Chicago Daily News Inc., photographer. [Three Chinese Children Standing in a Room, Each Holding an American Flag and a Chinese Flag], 1929.

?The Great American Potluck? is the place to reveal your recipe for lasagna or maybe spanakopita or even meatloaf. All regions of the nation and the world are represented by the various recipes that others have already contributed. If you would like a recipe for monkey bread (a cinnamon bread made with biscuit dough), there are two here; or tandoori chicken from India; or yam fries, the easiest way to find them is in the alphabetical list of all recipes.

Have you ever tasted ?Open Mouth Laugh? ? a Chinese dish? You can learn how to prepare this fancifully named dish here.

?The Great American Potluck? is an activity of the Learning Page, a Web site for teachers and students with activities that appeal to anyone?s sense of curiosity. Another collaborative activity is ?The Branding of America,? which encourages you to contribute information about the products made in your hometown.

The Learning Page also recognizes the centennial this year of the world's first sustained, powered and controlled flight in a heavier-than-air flying machine. This achievement of Wilbur and Orville Wright and the work of other pioneers in flight are documented in ?With Wings as Eagles: From Fantasy to Flight.?, another Learning page activity you can do yourself or with a child. Go to the Features and Activities page for more fun and educational topics to explore.
