CDC, the Georgia Division of Public Health, March of
Dimes, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Center for Craniofacial
Disorders, the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, and
the Cleft Palate Foundation held the 6th annual meeting. This annual
meeting promotes research and monitoring of birth defects and to
improve the lives of children in Georgia born with birth defects.
The meeting highlighted orofacial clefts, with
presentations covering:
- Anatomy and development
- Epidemiology and risk factors
- Evaluation, referral to special services, treatment
- Family perspective and long-term care issues
- Public health research priorities

Continuing education credits will be available for viewing of these
presentations.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to
provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention designates this educational activity
for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should
only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited as a
provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
