What's in the Bag?

  • Educator's Guide: This guide is for the Family Bookbag Coordinator to remove from the bookbag, review, and keep. The guide provides an overview of the bookbag, how to set-up a bookbag program, incentive ideas for the "Yours to Keep" bags, and much more.
  • Parent Letter: This letter explains to parents/caregivers how to use the Family Bookbag and reminds them which items need to be returned. Click to download in MS Word format.
  • Five Children's Books: The books included in the bookbag have positive food and physical activity messages for children and adults to learn from and enjoy together. Current book titles include What's For Lunch? Milk, The Busy Body Book, I Will Never Not Ever Eat A Tomato, Yoko, and Oh, The Things You Can Do That Are Good For You!
  • Family Tip Sheet (30 copies): The tip sheet includes information and tips for families on eating healthy, being active, and reading with children. One sheet goes home with each child in the "Yours to Keep" bag. Click to download in Adobe Acrobat format.
  • Recipe Card Set (30 copies): This set of eight family-friendly recipe cards is kid-tested and approved! One set goes home with each child in the "Yours to Keep" bag. Click to download in Adobe Acrobat format.
  • "Yours to Keep" Bags (30 bags): Each plastic bag is labeled "Yours to Keep" to remind participating children and their families that they can keep the bag and contents (Family Tip Sheet and Recipe Card Set) for an extended learning opportunity after they return the bookbag.
