The Incredible Adventure of Gulliver Macaw
As most of you already know, The Oasis and Friends of Gulliver around the world were instrumental in bringing a Blue and Gold Macaw named Gulliver back to the US this past summer. Stranded for 7 months after a shipwreck on a South Pacific island, Gulliver has joined his 600 parrot friends living in safety at The Oasis Sanctuary. He has become the "Spokes Parrot" for all birds without representation, without homes, and without voice.
Gulliver has been busy at work (with Sybil's help) writing a children's book entitled The Incredible Adventure of Gulliver Macaw. It is the story of the young bird's shipwreck and rescue, written in simple language with full color illustrations to delight all.
This 32-page book is written for pre-schoolers through 3rd grade, although all kids and kids-at-heart will enjoy it. The story is illustrated by California parrot-loving artist and Friend of The Oasis, Ed Kane. With Gulliver's encouragement, Ed and Sybil are donating all their time and financial proceeds of this book to help support the birds of The Oasis Sanctuary.
