Kent Armstrong, Associate Chief Information Officer and Director of the National Information Technology Center (NITC)
Kent Armstrong was appointed the Associate Chief Information Officer and Director of the National Information Technology Center (NITC) in October 2008. Mr. Armstrong will oversee the management of the USDA’s enterprise data centers located at Kansas City, MO, St. Louis, MO, Belstville, MD, and the Application Development Center of Excellence in Ft. Collins, CO.
He has been at NITC since 2001, serving first as the Business Integration Manager, Chief of the Project Management Office, and more recently as the Acting Director for NITC. Mr. Armstrong joined the USDA in 1978 and has worked for Food Safety and Quality Service, Packers and Stockyards Administration, Federal Crop Insurance Corporation, and the Farm Service Agency.
Mr. Armstrong grew up in Kansas where he and his wife still reside. They have two grown children. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and Industry from Kansas State University.
