The Small Hive Beetle (Aethina tumida).

  • It is a parasite and scavenger of honey bee 
    (Apis mellifera).
  • The larvae (pictured) feed on pollen and honey and damage the comb.
  • First found in the southern regions of Africa, it is now of concern to beekeepers throughout the world.
