Structural & Architectural Design Section
Who We Are and What We Do
The Portland District Structural & Architectural Design Section consists of structural engineers and engineering technicians working together to provide solutions to engineering and architectural design challenges for the District and Region.
Section Level Functionality
Our specific functions vary widely, but include the following important responsibilities:
- Perform the structural and architectural analysis of design, and prepare plans and specifications for construction and supply contracts. Serve as the CENWP structural engineering specialist with District elements, both Federal and non-Federal.
- Manage the structural-architectural portion of plans and specifications prepared by CENWP, out of District, and A-E elements. Check plans and specifications for accuracy, intent of scope, contractor's biddability, and constructibility.
- Prepare special studies, reports, design memorandums, contract estimates, quantity computations, and Operations & Maintenance manuals.
- Manage A-E contracts and consultants.
- Technically lead and manage product teams in support of Life Cycle Project Management.
- Prepare inspection and evaluation of the structural integrity and dam safety of Civil Works Structures.
- Perform independent technical review.
