BOWLUS, Sept. 22 -- The
importance of rural emergency response efforts were on display during a
ceremony at the Bowlus Fire Hall. Rural Development awarded the city of
Bowlus $50,000 to purchase a new fire truck. The Bowlus Fire Department
serves cities and townships in Morrison County.

RICHMOND, Sept. 15 -- USDA
Rural Development awarded Richmond over $2 million during an event at
the local civic arena to build a new water and wastewater system in the
community. The project comes from the 2008 Farm Bill.

OGILVIE, Sept. 11 -- USDA Rural
Development continues to implement the 2008 Farm Bill. State Director
Steve Wenzel and staff visited the Ogilvie Community Center to award
$1.3 million for a new water project in the city. The funding will also
help preserve the existing water tower and attached garage, which are on
the Minnesota Historical Register.

SEAFORTH, Aug. 22 -- USDA Rural
Development officials visited Seaforth to award funding for the
community's new wastewater treatment system and water system. Seaforth
is the last municipality in Redwood County to install a city sewer and
water system. The project was made possible with $655,000 in
low-interest loans and grants from Rural Development.

TRACY, Aug. 22 -- Years of hard
work have now paid off as Tracy Kid's World celebrated its grand opening
with USDA Rural Development officials. Rural Development helped finance
the facility with a $1.3 million direct loan and $100,000 grant. The
center will provide day care and early childhood services for about 74
kids in Tracy and the surrounding area.

JACKSON, Aug. 18 -- Agriculture
Under Secretary for Rural Development Thomas C. Dorr visited Jackson,
Minn., to highlight over $9 million in Farm Bill funding that will allow
Iowa Lakes Regional Water to deliver clean water to parts of Jackson and
Martin counties. Overall, Minnesota was awarded over $14 million in Farm
Bill and regular funding for water and wastewater projects. The
announcement was made by Secretary Ed Schafer on Aug. 15.
