PREDICTIVE SERVICES

The Southwest Coordination Center (SWCC) is the interagency focal point for coordinating the mobilization of resources between the twelve Federal and State Dispatch Centers of the Southwest Area and, when necessary, the National Coordination Center in Boise, ID, for assignment throughout the nation.  Located in Albuquerque, NM, the Center mobilizes resources for wildland fire, wildland fire use, prescribed fire, and other all-risk incidents. In addition, the Center provides Predictive Services and Intelligence related-products in support of incident management decision-making for wildland fire managers and on-the-ground wildland firefighters.

There are five primary components to the SWCC website.

• The Incident Information component of the website is designed to provide general information on large wildland fires, fire restrictions and closures, and other relevant information to the general public and news media.
• The Predictive Services component is designed to be the decision support section of the site providing operational products and links pertaining to (1) Intelligence (i.e. situation, mapping, and firefighting resources), (2) Fire Weather (i.e. current weather conditions, models, and forecasts), (3) Fuels / Fire Danger (i.e. NFDRS, live fuel moisture, WFAS, NDVI), and (4) Outlooks (i.e. daily fire behavior forecasts, and weekly and monthly fire weather / fire danger outlooks) .
• The Logistics / Dispatch component is designed to provide specific operational information pertaining to aviation, crews, equipment and supplies, and overhead (to include Incident Management Teams).
• The Administrative component of the SWCC website is designed to assist the wildland fire manager, providing various tools in incident business, safety, software, and training in order to make fire management programs work. Under this heading also includes a link to the Southwest Coordinating Group (SWCG) website and committees.
• The Related Links component is for locating other incident related websites within the Southwest Area and nationally.
