Your e-mail is very important to
us and we strive
to respond to each inquiry in a timely matter. However, mission critical
duties can create some delay in responding to your message.
Delays can be especially noticeable on the
weekend or during an active weather event. With this in mind, we have
provided some helpful links and answers to common e-mail questions

Frequently Asked
Questions
Climate Data and
Records
1. I found a lot of data for the D/FW Airport on your site, but
I'm looking for rainfall information for Waxahachie. Do you have any of
this data? Ans: We have some monthly rainfall data available from
our cooperative observers online, but if you need more detailed
information you will need to contact either the Southern
Regional Climate Center (SRCC) or the National
Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The monthly rainfall is on our
main
climate page. Scroll down and look for the map that has a
lot of dots on it, or you can use the drop-down menu for each site.

2. I need to know when it has rained in Dallas over the past 5
years. Ans: We have a lot of climate data for the D/FW
Airport and for Waco
available in our climate
section, but should you need data from other observation
sites, or should you need data for a legal matter, you will need to
contact the National
Climatic Data Center (NCDC). Daily records of high
temperature, low temperature, and precipitation for the D/FW airport
and Waco airport are available on our site back through 1995. Look for
the drop down menu that says "Daily
Summaries for Previous Months" in the D/FW
and Waco
climate sections. 3. I need some weather information for a legal
case that is coming to trial next week. Can you give me certified
weather observations for Mineral Wells?
Ans: You will need to contact the National
Climatic Data Center for copies of certified weather data
or observations. The address and phone number is listed above.
4. Can you tell me if there was hail reported in Boonsville on
the 4th of July, 2002?
Ans. Maybe. We have some preliminary
storm data on our website that runs back through 1996.
However, this report is not certified and may not be complete. For
certified storm data you will need to contact the National
Climatic Data Center (address give above in our FAQ). Also,
not all hail or severe weather reports make it to our office, so it
would still be possible for an event to have occurred in your location
and we simply did not receive any reports.
5. Storms just blew through my area and I was wondering if there
were any reports of severe weather associated with them?
Ans: We have some preliminary
local storm reports (LSR's) on our website. We try to get
these reports out as soon as possible, but it may take some time for
them to arrive on the web as other mission critical duties may cause a
delay. These reports are not official. Should you need official
reports you will need to contact the National
Climatic Data Center.
SKYWARN Storm
Spotter Classes
1. Do I need to pre-register or call ahead before attending a
SKYWARN class?
Ans: No. In most cases the classes are open to the public. However,
It may be a good idea to contact your county or local Emergency
Manager. There will likely be a sign in sheet when you arrive. This is
used to maintain a record of your attendance and qualifications as a
SKYWARN Storm Spotter.
2. When is the next SKYWARN class for my area?
Ans: All our SKYWARN classes are posted in our Preparedness
section of our website. The entire schedule for the current year can
be found here.
