What is CTIC?
CTIC stands for Conservation Technology Information Center. We are a 501(c)(3) membership organization that assist our nation's agricultural communities in making environmentally responsible and economically viable decisions.

What's your vision/mission?

Vision: CTIC envisions agriculture using environmentally beneficial and economically viable natural resource systems.

Mission: CTIC is a public-private partnership providing reliable, profitable solutions to improve the relationship between agriculture and the environment.

What does the Center do?

Focused on being the credible, reliable source for agricultural conservation, CTIC is:

• A clearinghouse of information about emerging issues. We review and communicate new research, technologies and innovative approaches. If you have a question, we’ll find the answer.
• A source of national messages. We work with public and private sector national partners to assure consistent messages reach those who influence farm management decisions.
• A facilitator of workshops, conferences and trainings. We have developed several training workshops to help Members, Alliances and other groups. We also have extensive experience in meeting facilitation and planning.

CTIC is comprised of members of ag industry, ag publications, ag associations, conservation organizations and producers and is supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service and other public entities.

Who are your partners?

CTIC has a national network of partners and advisors, including local, state and federal government agencies, universities, producer alliances, watershed groups and more.

Where are you located?

CTIC is located in the Purdue Research Park in beautiful West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. Although CTIC is affiliated with the Agronomy Department of Purdue University, we are an independent organization.

Aren't you part of Purdue University?

While Purdue University provides in-kind support, and CTIC staff are adjunct staff of the Agronomy Department, the Center operates independent of the university. In fact, the Center works with nearly 100 U.S. and international universities.

How are you funded?

Funds are obtained through membership dues, product sales, special projects and grants from companies, foundations and government agencies.

Do you have a magazine?

Yes. Partners is our online magazine. It's published quarterly and is distributed via
e-mail. Advertising space is available. All editorial decisions are made by CTIC staff.

How old are you?

A group of agribusiness, governmental agency and association partners founded the Conservation Tillage Information Center in 1982. In January 1983, the Center opened its doors as a special project of the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD). In 1986, the organization's purpose had broadened, and the name was changed to the Conservation Technology Information Center. In 2004, CTIC became an independent 501(c)(3) organization.

What is your connection to NACD?

The Center was started as a special project of NACD in 1983. Today, CTIC is an independent 501c3 organization. The Center does not receive funding nor direction from NACD, nor does it make policy recommendations. In addition, the Center provides conservation districts and others who influence on-farm management decisions with scientifically accurate information.
