About Dr. Teramoto
Dr. Roy Teramoto is a pediatrician and has been the Maternal Child Health Coordinator for the Phoenix Area since October, 2002. He is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology and holds an M.P.H. degree. As a commissioned officer in the USPHS, he started his IHS career in 1983 at the Talihina Indian Hospital in Oklahoma where he was a general medical officer. His service continued from 1984 until 2002 as a pediatrician at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.

Activities:
- Initiated a performance improvement activity for the Phoenix Area in April 2003 to increase the rate of childhood immunizations throughout the area.
- Attends the Arizona State Child Fatality team meetings
- Serves on the Arizona "Reach Out and Read" board
- Participates in a "School Readiness" work group for Arizona
- Participates in a "Child Health Research Agenda" work group
- Co-chair of the Child Protection Team for the Phoenix Area
Area Issues:
- Childhood (and Adult) Immunizations
- Low mammography screening rate for the area
- Substance abuse during pregnancy
- Osteoporosis screening for women over 65
Local conferences / meetings
Phoenix Area MCH Conference for May 4-6, 2004 We are planning a Phoenix Area MCH Conference for May 4-6, 2004. The conference will highlight successful programs in the Phoenix Area, as well as provide continuing education on pediatric and women's health topics and will explore current issues and future directions for the MCH programs in the Phoenix Area.
