Wisconsin (posted November 17, 2008)

Wisconsin Wetlands Association (WWA) is seeking a full-time Wetland Policy Program Specialist. WWA is dedicated to the protection, restoration and enjoyment of wetlands and associated ecosystems through science-based programs, education and advocacy.

We have a small, energetic staff, committed board, and dedicated membership working to protect the state's wetland resources through education, training, research and policy work on key issues that affect wetlands.

The Policy Program Specialist will work with the Executive Director and Policy Director to address a wide range of issues that ensure strong wetland and water policy in Wisconsin and the region including:

  • Promoting proactive wetland policies through state budgeting, rules, and/or legislation Working to uphold existing wetland and waterway protections
  • Monitoring the environmental review and permit compliance of large-scale projects that have significant wetland impacts
  • Providing oversight of the implementation and enforcement of Wisconsin wetland laws
  • Advancing the public debate related to wetland policy issues in Wisconsin and throughout the Great Lakes and Mississippi River Basin
  • Providing tools and assistance to local advocates working to protect wetlands
