President-Elect Obama To Visit Ohio Wind Turbine Component Manufacturer Before Inauguration
January 16 - President-elect Barack Obama will call for action to stimulate the economy at an Ohio company that manufactures very large bolts for wind turbine towers, according to announcements by the President-elect’s team and information received by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). The company, Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Co., Inc., is based in Bedford Heights, Ohio, and the visit will take place Friday, January 16, as the President-elect travels from Illinois to Washington, D.C., for his Inauguration. Urge Your Members of Congress to Extend the PTC and Restructure Tax Credits for Wind Energy
The wind industry has been booming, creating thousands of new jobs and leading the clean energy transformation in the United States. But now, with the economic downturn and the turmoil in the credit markets, that momentum is threatened. Please contact your members of congress and urge them to restructure the existing production tax credit (PTC) for renewable energy so it will work to attract financing for new wind projects even during the economic slowdown. Also urge them to extend the PTC beyond 2009 to provide additional stability to the industry.
