"BRFSS: Meeting Challenges and Staying Ahead"
March 15–19, 2008
Florida Hotel and Conference Center
Orlando, Florida

You are invited to join us for our 25th Annual Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) Conference. The conference will be held on March 17–19, 2008, at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando, Florida. Pre-conference training will be offered on March 15–16, 2008.

Since 1984, CDC's Behavior Surveillance Branch has held an annual meeting with state BRFSS coordinators to plan and discuss the BRFSS survey. The conference convenes each year to determine the content of the BRFSS Survey Questionnaire for the subsequent year and update attendees regarding state-of-the-art behavioral risk factor monitoring, methodologies, and technological innovations. The conference provides opportunities for networking among state BRFSS coordinators, data collection contractors, and others interested in surveillance systems.

The BRFSS Conference typically draws an audience from the entire United States, including U.S. Trust Territories. Attendees include public health professionals from federal, state, and local health agencies, as well as state BRFSS coordinators, field supervisory staff, epidemiologists, and statisticians. Approximately 300 people are expected to attend this year's conference. .

This year's conference will feature sessions on the importance and challenges of health surveillance at the local, state, and national levels, mental health surveillance using BRFSS, recent BRFSS research activities on reaching underrepresented groups, scientific publishing of BRFSS data, and effective communication strategies for surveillance data.

Additionally, state-based public health programs will showcase the successful application of BRFSS data to address diabetes prevention and control, cancer prevention, tobacco and alcohol use and prevention, nutrition and physical activity, and oral health.
