U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program - 2001 Program Announcement for the Biology and Management of Pests and Beneficial Organisms
USDA. Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service.
The broad goal of this topic area is to support fundamental and mission-linked research on the biology of insects, microbes, nematodes, and invasive plants, as well as the interactions between these organisms and plants of agricultural importance. Some of the four programs described below include pests of livestock as topics of study. In addition, programs in this area (see individual program descriptions) will support mission-linked research aimed at near-term adoption of alternative, safer pest management strategies, such as alternatives to methyl bromide. The program areas are: Plant Pathology; Entomology and Nematology; Weed Biology and Management; Biologically Based Pest Management; Biology of Plant-Microbe Associations; and, Biology of Weedy and Invasive Plants. Program Deadline: Nov 15, 2000.

National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, PTI Request for Proposals - "Pulling Together" Grants
This is a unified request for proposals (RFP) for all projects to be funded under the United States Department of the Interior  (DOI), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the United States Department of Defense (DOD), and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) Initiative entitled Pulling Together: A Public/Private Partnership for Invasive and Noxious Plant Management.  The goals of this Initiative are: 1) to prevent, manage, or eradicate invasive and noxious plants through a coordinated program of public/private partnerships; and 2) to increase public awareness of the adverse impacts of invasive and noxious plants.  These goals will be achieved, in part, through NFWF's Challenge Grants process. Proposal deadline is Nov 2, 1999.
