Recent Observations and Climate Data

This page offers links to data resources to keep you up to date. All of the data sources identified on this page use data from our dedicated volunteer observers to develop their products. Daily data (i.e., snowfall and snow depth graphics) are preliminary, non-quality controlled data. They rely on coded messages sent to the NWS at least once a day by over a thousand of our observers. These messages are then decoded at the forecast office and disseminated to other sources electronically for ingest and analysis.

Climate data (historical datasets, normals, extremes, etc.) are available from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) in Asheville, NC.  This data are official data (quality controlled, published and certifiable. Data requested through NCDC may incur costs (see NOAA Web data access policy).
