3 - 3:30 p.m. Presentation and demonstration at undersea acoustics lab Joe Haxel, Research Assistant in the Acoustic Monitoring Group Acoustic monitoring of Cascadia subduction and Antarctica  
3:45 - 5:15 p.m. Panel discussion at HMSC Steve Giovannoni and Michael Behrenfeld, professors in the College of Science; Bill Peterson, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration New views of microbial species in the open ocean. 5:15 p.m. Time on your own   Vans will return to the hotel or take participants to other Newport locations  
7 - 10 p.m. Oregon Coast Aquarium Fishermen, economic development specialists, city and county representatives and two state legislators will join us for informal discussions focusing on the impacts of changing coastal and climate conditions on their decision-making Dinner and chance to see aquarium displays
