Early Avalanche Season Prompts Safety Reminders
(December 2008) – Every year hundreds of avalanches occur in the Rocky Mountain Region´s mountainous areas. Already this year several avalanches have happened, and avalanche danger is high even though it is early in the season. Being caught in an avalanche can result in death or serious injury. more »

Colorado Roadless Rule
The Forest Service is initiating a public rulemaking process to address the management of roadless areas on National Forest System lands within the state of Colorado as a result of a petition submitted by Governor Bill Ritter on behalf of the State of Colorado. Travel Management
The Travel Management Rule (the Rule) announced in 2005 requires each National Forest and Grassland to identify and designate those roads, trails, and areas that are open to motor vehicle use. Forests and Grasslands in the Rocky Mountain Region are seeking public input and coordinating with federal, state, county, and other local governmental entities as well as tribal governments to implement the Rule. more »
