The University of Oregon will provide almost $340,000 to help students who recently learned their Oregon Opportunity Grant funding will be cut for the remainder of the academic year. MLK, Jr. Fulfilling The Dream, Organizing for Social Justice, is a facilitated discussion with a panel of activists interested in sharing their thoughts on how to promote social justice through grassroots and direct action organizing. MLK, Jr. The Voices Project features “I Am A...” from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Black Cultural Center. The Voices Project is a series of videos of OSU students, staff, and faculty discussing the different ways they identify and why. Co-sponsors include the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.

Anita Guerrini, Horning Professor in the Humanities in Oregon State University’s history department, will deliver a lecture titled “Do animals have a history—and why should we care?” at 4 p.m., Feb. 2, in the Memorial Union, room 109. This is the second lecture in the 2008-2009 Horning Lecture Series organized by the OSU Horning Endowment in the Humanities. The OSU Association of Office Professionals (AOP) is inviting students to apply for their 2009 scholarships. The OSU AOP will award at least one $500 scholarship based on achievement and potential for the 2009-10 academic year. To qualify, applicants must be full time Oregon State University students with sophomore, junior, or senior standing at the time of application with at least one full year of undergraduate studies remaining during the 2009-10 academic year, AND have a major or declared minor in the College of Business, OR regardless of major, have a parent or legal guardian who is a member in good standing in the OSU Association of Office Professionals. All interested, qualified students are encouraged to apply for the scholarship. Beaver Strides will be holding its weekly group walk on Mondays from noon to 12:45 p.m., rain or shine, starting at Plageman Student Health Services and walking for 45 minutes on various routes around campus. All abilities welcome.
Between Jan. 13-15, the parking lot north of the Benton Annex, between the Benton Annex and Benton Hall will be closed. Due to reconfiguration of the current parking spaces in the above listed lot, all parking spaces in the paved section will be temporarily shutdown. The ADA spaces will be relocated along the sidewalk in the north section of the lot.
