Transfer of Advocacy Responsibilities Related to Defense Procurement

On December 5, 2007, certain responsibilities related to U.S. Government advocacy assistance activities for defense-related commercial transactions were transferred within the Department of Commerce from the Bureau of Industry and Security’s Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security (BIS/SIES) to the International Trade Administration’s Advocacy Center.

BIS/SIES is no longer industry’s point of contact for defense trade advocacy activities.  All requests for U.S. Government advocacy assistance for defense-related projects should be submitted to the Advocacy Center.

More information on the Advocacy Center’s activities and procedures can be obtained from its website (www.export.gov/advocacy/index.html).
