The slide presentation, A Call to Action: Prevention and Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer, was developed to generate a greater awareness among primary care providers (i.e., physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners) of the importance of prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer.

Note: This slide presentation is being updated. A new version will be posted when updates are complete.

Goals

The goals of the slide presentation are to:

  • Raise primary care providers' awareness about prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer and increase their intention to screen


  • Improve primary care providers' knowledge regarding the research, education, and screening issues surrounding colorectal cancer


  • Provide tools to aid providers in assisting their patients in selecting a colorectal cancer screening option

Learning Objectives

After attending this presentation, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the appropriate screening options for colorectal cancer
  • Describe the current issues surrounding screening for colorectal cancer
  • Identify barriers and potential solutions to screening for colorectal cancer

Presenting this slide presentation to primary care providers will enable them to be better prepared to recommend screening for the prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer to their patients.
