Governor Crist Honors Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., Announces Black History Month Contests
Hosts reception honoring Florida’s African-American leaders TALLAHASSEE – At a reception honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and Florida’s African-American leaders later today, Governor Charlie Crist will announce Florida’s Black History Month theme as Past Pioneers + Present Role Models = A Brighter Future, as well as an art contest for students in kindergarten through third grade. In addition, he will invite Florida students in fourth through 12th grades to participate in the essay contest and will encourage students, parents, teachers and principals to nominate full-time African-American educators in elementary, middle or high schools for the Black History Month Excellence in Education Award.

Nine-member panel will lead state energy and climate change programs and policies TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today welcomed state leaders and the public to the first meeting of the nine-member Florida Energy & Climate Commission, held in Tallahassee. The Commission was created by the Governor and 2008 Florida Legislature within the Executive Office of the Governor to centralize state energy and climate change programs and policies.
