The ATSDR Continuing Education Program for the Case Studies in Environmental Medicine is moving from the MMWR to the OWCD system. People registered previously with MMWR will have to register anew with OWCD to take newly released courses. Persons wishing to take older courses (CE CSEM credits expiring in 2008) will still need to use the MMWR system. Two separate transcript records will exist as a result of the transition process. Those who have taken courses using the MMWR system should contact the Environmental Medicine Continuing Education Coordinator (atsdrdtemce@cdc.gov) to address issues such as lost/forgotten passwords and course certificates. Persons who register with the OWCD system to take the newly released courses (2007 and beyond) should contact OWCD Training and Continuing Education Online by:

Description of Credits Offered |
Continuing Medical Education (CME) for PhysiciansCDC is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CDC will designate the educational activity for a maximum of Category 1 credits toward the AMA physician's Recognition Award. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) for NursesContact hours are provided by CDC, which is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditations. Continuing Education Units (CEU) for Other ProfessionalsCDC has been reviewed and approved as an authorized provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 8405 Greensboro Drive, Suite 800, McLean, Va 22102. CDC awards CEU to participants who successfully complete the CSEM program.
