Energy summation

just adds the energy within a frequency band

Matched filtering

cross-correlation of times series (waveforms)

Spectrogram correlation

cross-correlation of spectrograms

Can add a detector to find regularly-timed calls

Each of these produces a detection function

What happens to detected calls?

A call is "detected" when detection function exceeds a threshold for a set length of time

Can write the detection time to a log file and/or can extract the call - a sound clip and write it to a new sound file
