Quality of Life
Balancing career and family is important. NSA supports our workforce and their families in coping with the complexities of work and life. We offer a wide array of award-winning programs and services aimed at helping people resolve any conflicts between work and personal responsibilities. NSA is committed to its people and to creating the best possible workplace - to foster an environment that is not only leading edge, but also focused on people.

Some of the programs and services that NSA offers include:

Flexible Work Hours
A flexible work schedule is offered to NSA employees as an alternative to the traditional 9 to 5 work day. It allows you to vary your arrival and/or departure time to fit with your busy life outside of work.

Childcare Resources
NSA offers information to assist, engage, enlighten, and inform employees on issues involving children and youth. Some of these resources include a licensed child development center, Maryland childcare listings, and information on summer camps/programs.

Hotline
A Work/Life Hotline has been established to provide employees and their families with needed information and resources.

Fitness Center
Several staffed fitness centers can be found throughout NSA complexes. These centers provide employees and assignees the opportunity to receive instruction from certified health, fitness, and wellness professionals.

Blood Donor and Bone Marrow Programs
The NSA Blood Donor Program promotes blood, bone marrow, hemapheresis, tissue, and organ donations by NSA employees in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Banking
Banking opportunities are available in several locations throughout NSA complexes.

MVA-On-Wheels
A mobile MVA office visits NSA once a month to offer such services as: renewing a non-commercial drivers license, returning tags, obtaining disability placards, changing your name and/or address, and registering to vote.

Telecommuting
Telecommuting enhances operational efficiency, promotes program goals, enriches the quality of work and life, and provides for a better balance of work and personal responsibilities. NSA offers opportunities to telecommute on a short-term, long-term, or ad hoc basis contingent with supervisory approval.

Civilian Welfare Fund (CWF)
The CWF provides many programs and services to Agency employees and their families. It is one of the finest morale, welfare, and recreation establishments in the Federal Government.

Location
NSA headquarters is conveniently located midway between Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C. in Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.

The Baltimore/Washington D.C. area offers a wealth of cultural amenities and lifestyle advantages. As an employee at our headquarters location, you'll be within driving distance to sunny beaches as well as majestic mountains and will have the opportunity to enjoy college and major league sports attractions.

Our employees live along the Colonial-era streets of Annapolis and Georgetown; in the suburban surroundings of Columbia; near the excitement of Baltimore's Inner Harbor; along rolling hills adjacent to working farms; near the shores of the Chesapeake Bay; and amid the monumental history of Washington, D.C.

Travel
Field assignments away from NSA headquarters are available for many employees. Locations include overseas and U.S. sites, as well as local assignments in the Maryland/D.C./Northern Virginia area. Certain opportunities also exist for employees to live and work in our Georgia, Texas, Hawaii, or Colorado locations.

Moving Assistance
As a new employee with NSA you will receive a Welcome Packet that includes all the information you will need regarding moving assistance benefits. We also have a First Duty Relocation Officer ready to assist you with your move and answer any questions.

NSA will pay to move household goods (not to exceed 18,000 pounds) as well as the travel expenses for new employees and their dependents whose primary residence is at least 50 miles from Fort Meade, Maryland. If the new employee prefers to use a commercial mover, NSA will reimburse up to the cost of the Government rate.

New Hire Networking
The Director and Deputy Director of NSA sponsor a Director's Social approximately twice a year for newly hired employees and their spouses. This social provides new employees with an opportunity to meet and talk with senior management and other recently hired NSA employees.

Finding a Roommate
If you are interested in finding a roommate, your Welcome Packet contains a form which you can fill out and return.
