The 80's

1982:
Cents begin being made of copper-plated zinc instead of copper because copper is becoming too expensive.
1984:
The name of the Bureau of the Mint is changed to the United States Mint.
1988:
The West Point Bullion Depository becomes an official United States Mint branch
