Swinging Bridge Dam (P-10482) Dam Safety Remediation Project

Recreation and Public Access at Mirant Projects

    P-9690- Rio Project
    P-10481- Mongaup Project
    P-10482- Swinging Bridge Project

Due to the ongoing dam safety concerns regarding a sink hole at the Swinging Bridge Project, all project recreation areas at the above projects are closed until further notice with the exception of the Toronto Reservoir. This reservoir contains two boat launches, one on the west side of the project located along Moscoe Road and the other on the east side of the project located at the end of Plank Road.

The Commission staff is investigating two concerns regarding recreational access at the Toronto Reservoir. One investigation deals with the use of personal watercraft on Toronto Reservoir. The other investigation is on public access to the Toronto Dam boat launch Part 1 | Part 2.

We continually monitor recreation use at the project and will coordinate with the Commission's Division of Dam Safety and Inspections to determine when it is appropriate to reopen the recreation areas at the Rio, Mongaup, and Swinging Bridge (Swinging Bridge development) Projects Part 3.

For questions on recreational access or public use, please contact Heather Campbell at 202-502-6182.
