impACT - Winter 2009 NCTSN Newsletter (2008) (PDF)
This issue focuses on collaboration throughout the Network. It features descriptions of the eight newly-funded sites, collaborative efforts between Kennedy Krieger Family Center in Baltimore, MD. and the University of Maryland School of Social Work to create a new graduate course, and efforts between the Center for Children & Family Health in Durham, NC and The Herald-Sun to publish opinion-editorials on child mental health and trauma. It also highlights Network members who have been honored in the fields of mental health and trauma, and the NCTSN Terrorism and Disaster Speaker Series. This issue's Affiliate Spotlight describes the affiliate program and what some affiliate sites and professionals are doing to stay involved with the NCTSN.

Trauma Informed-Interventions
The NCTSN resource, Trauma-Informed Interventions: Clinical Research Evidence and Culture-Specific Information Project , identifies trauma-informed interventions for working with trauma-affected youth and describes each intervention's level of cultural competency.

Adaptation Guidelines for Serving Latino Children and Families Affected by Trauma (2008)
In an effort to improve services for Latino/Hispanic children and families who have experienced trauma, the Chadwick Center for Children and Families in San Diego, California, as part of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), has coordinated the development of Adaptation Guidelines for Serving Latino Children and Families Affected by Trauma. Experts in the fields of child trauma research, clinical practice, policy and cultural diversity worked together to create guidelines that addresses a number of key priority areas to fit the needs of traumatized Latino children and families. The priority areas range from micro issues (assessment and provision of therapy) to macro issues (organizational competence and policy).

Juvenile and Family Court Journal—Special Issue on Child Trauma (2008)
In partnership with the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges , members of the Network contributed to an issue of the Juvenile and Family Court Journal devoted to child trauma. Articles inform judges and other members of the juvenile and family court systems about issues they should consider when working with youth who have been exposed to trauma. Traumatic Grief in Military Children—Two New Resources
Traumatic Grief in Military Children: Information for Medical Providers (2008) (PDF) and Traumatic Grief in Military Children: Information for Educators (2008) (PDF) are the final two publications in the Traumatic Grief in Military Children Information Series.

NCTSN Learning Center for Child and Adolescent Trauma
A resource for professionals and families, the NCTSN Learning Center for Child and Adolescent Trauma features online courses, moderated discussions and multimedia resources on child traumatic stress.

Policy Issues
The National Child Traumatic Stress Network has created four publications to help policy makers understand the scope and nature of child trauma. These guides and briefs are for all those who work to develop and implement policies for child and family-serving systems, including federal, state, and local policymakers; agency and center staff; mental health clinicians, researchers, and service providers; child advocates; and families and consumers affected by trauma.

An orientation page leads new National Child Traumatic Stress Network members to some of the Network's major projects and to tools that will help them succeed as a member of our collaborative community.

Children's Advocacy Center Directors' Guide to Mental Health Services for Abused Children (2008)
The Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) Directors' Guide to Mental Health Services for Abused Children seeks to give CAC leaders increased awareness and understanding of best practice mental health interventions for traumatized children. Whether mental health services to child victims are offered within the CAC or through linkages with community partners, the guide offers all CAC directors valuable information.

Pandemic Flu Fact Sheet: A Parents' Guide to Helping Families Cope with a Pandemic Flu (2008) (PDF)
No one knows when a pandemic influenza (flu) might occur or how severe it might be. This fact sheet provides basic information on pandemic flu. It will help you think about how pandemic flu might affect your family—both physically and emotionally—and what you can do to help your family cope.
