Products

Western markets and delivers about 10,000 megawatts of reliable, cost-based hydropower from powerplants at 56 Federal dams to rural electric cooperatives, municipalities, public utility districts, Federal and state agencies, Native American tribes and irrigation districts.

The main products Western offers to our customers are:

  • Power marketing services--These products include long-term, firm power and other long-term sales; non-firm energy and short-term sales; seasonal sales and purchase power.       
                                
  • Transmission and ancillary services--Transmission services allow other utilities to use Western’s transmission system to transmit non-Federal power. Services include point-to-point transmission and network integration transmission services.
    Ancillary services support the transmission of capacity and energy from resources to loads while maintaining reliable system operation. Services include scheduling, system control and dispatch services; reactive supply and voltage control from generation sources service; energy imbalance service; regulation and frequency response services and operating reserve services.                
                        
  • Other services--These include Energy Services, renewable resources and operation and maintenance services.
