Americans 2008: Key Indicators of Well-Being (Off
Site)
This report of the Federal Forum on Aging-Related Statistics covers 38 key indicators carefully selected by the Forum to portray aspects of the lives of older Americans and their families. National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging (Off
Site)
Includes both NACDA publications and information about
datasets which cover many areas of aging. NACDA has also started
making
selected public
datasets

Senior Citizens Survey and others.
AGing
Integrated Database (AGID)
The AGID is an AoA on-line query system that provides dynamic access to
AoA-related program performance results, surveys, and other data
files. These include Census population estimates; tabulations
from the Census American Community Survey data on population aging,
sex, race and ethnicity, income, poverty, disability, living
arrangements and marital status, grandparent responsibility, and more;
as well as AoA surveys of its program participants.
The system allows users to produce customized tables at the national
and state level.
Fedstats (Off
Site)
More than 100 agencies in the Federal
Government produce statistics of interest to the public. The Federal
Interagency Council on Statistical Policy maintains this site to
provide easy access to the full range of statistics and information
produced by these agencies for public use.

The Census Bureau web site includes a variety of Access Tools to help
users extract tables. Of special interest is
the new American Factfinder system which lets users construct their own tables online from various
Census data sources including the 1990 Census - 2000 Census data is
being added during 2001 - 2003. Other Access

AoA funded special report developed in 1996 by noted demographer Jacob
Siegel providing the projections on the future elderly population.
Includes population, marital status, and ousehold information as well
as information about labor force participation, income, education,
living arrangements, and life expectancy.
Statistical Tables on 1990 Population and Housing
Patterns Among Older Americans
Sixteen (16) statistical tables on the 1990 Population and Housing
Patterns Among Older Americans. These tables are based on the data from
Special Tabulation on Aging using 1990 Census data. They cover such
areas as mobility and self-care limitations, ousing characteristics,
educational, marital, living arrangements, poverty and income status,
as well as income distribution of the elderly. They are available both
in html and pdf format (instructions and a link to the free pdf reader
software are provided).
NIA Centers on the
Demography of Aging

sponsored by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) which conduct

The National
Center for Health Statistics ( NCHS) web site includes this section on
aging related publications, data, and off-site links. Of particular
interest are:

NCHS annual report on the health status of the nation; contains

- Trends in Health
and Aging
A Web-based data archive
designed to show trends in health-related behaviors, health status,
health care utilization, and health care costs of the older
population. The warehouse contains information from a variety
of national and state level data systems, the majority maintained by
NCHS. The Warehouse is a dynamic system; series based on regular
collection systems are updated as soon as new figures become available.
Moreover, the number of topics grows as important new data are made

- Longitudinal Studies of Aging
A family of surveys designed to measure
changes in health status, health-related behaviors, health care

The IPC, part of the Population

Survey
The national American Housing Survey, conducted every 2 years by the
Bureau of Census for HUD, provides detailed data on housing costs, home
financing, household equipment, housing and neighborhood conditions,
