Program Team Responsibilities

Initiates and conducts special analyses, independently or with the regional offices, designed to produce data and information to support Bureau decision-makers in resolving Offshore issues requiring geotechnical expertise and input or to offer new initiatives for management consideration. Specific topics include:

Resource and reserve estimates and assessments

bullet

Geological studies and exploration activities

bullet

Geophysical data, information, and technology

bullet

Geotechnical mapping issues

bullet

OCRs outreach / information dissemination.

Develops and provides technical input and expertise to Bureau organizational elements regarding the use of geotechnical data and information in addressing issues and concerns of, or preparing documents for, Bureau decision-makers. Specific topics include:

5-Year program analyses

bullet

Sale specific decision documents including environmental impact statements

bullet

Bid appeal issues, letters, and questions

bullet

Legislative proposals and hearings

bullet

Government and industry research proposals.

Determines, identifies, and analyzes the Bureauwide needs regarding geological and geophysical (G&G) data, thereby promulgating and implementing all prelease G&G data regulations and other regulatory documents related to oil, gas, sulfur, and other minerals; included in these responsibilities is the implementation of the Bureauwide G&G data acquisition priority list and the development of analyses with regard to new data and developing data acquisition technology to address future Bureau data needs.

Determines and initiates Bureau actions and cooperative efforts with other Government agencies (i.e., USGS, DOE / EIA, NOAA, etc.), industry associations (i.e., AAPG, NOIA, API, AGA, etc.), State agencies (i.e., AASG, State geological surveys) with regard to geoscience information exchange as related to Bureau policies.

Performs and addresses various OCS program issues at the headquarters level that reflect upon and directly relate to RE Program responsibilities. Specific topics include:

Management Control Reviews

G&G data information collection exercises

bullet

RE budgetary issues

bullet

Production forecasts

bullet

Bid appeals and rejections

bullet

OCS outreach and information dissemination.
