Documentation

VIReC documentation of the Medical SAS Datasets includes Research User Guides (RUGs), frequencies of selected variables (in .PDF and Excel), dataset revision history, and SAS® PROC CONTENTS. The RUGs contain one-page descriptions of each variable, dataset names, access methods, data quality, historical information and bibliographies. Select variable frequencies are from the Inpatient Acute Care Main (PM), Outpatient Visit (SF) and Inpatient Encounters (IE) datasets. Starting FY2007, select variable frequencies are only available in Excel discontinuing the .PDF documents. Dataset revision history Excel Workbooks are organized by fiscal year and contain various changes to datasets. Lastly, SAS® PROC CONTENTS are descriptions of SAS datasets. VIReC documentation can be downloaded from the table below.
