New types and sources of information about DSS are being developed on a
continuing basis. The information sources suggested here are organized according
to the kinds of information that users may be seeking. Each Web site noted
offers a broad range of information and should be explored at some depth.
VHA Decision Support System Program Office
The VA Intranet Web site for the DSS Program Office
gives the DSS mission, goals, and values. Services, committees, minutes,
announcements of training, database developments, documentation, and technical
guides can be accessed from this web site. Also included are presentations
made at conferences and case studies used for Grand Rounds.
Local DSS teams are the best source of information about their respective
production databases.
Health Economics
Resource Center (HERC)
HERC is one of the HSR&D resource centers that assists VA researchers
in assessing the cost-effectiveness of medical care, evaluating the efficiency
of VA programs and providers, and conducting high-quality health economics
research. VA researchers can obtain help on the cost data in DSS National
Data Extracts by contacting HERC.
VIReC Help Desk
The Veterans Affairs Information Resource Center (VIReC) maintains
a Helpdesk to address questions about the use of databases including the
clinical data in DSS NDEs.
