X-radiograph of The Dead Toreador |
The changes revealed by the x-radiograph of The Dead Toreador seem less complex than those of The Bullfight. However, the visual alterations to The Dead Toreador may be more significant for a number of reasons. The bull and his shadow at the upper right, as well as what appears to be the gate into the bullring at the upper left, are painted out completely in The Dead Toreador. These elements may have been part of Incident in a Bullfight as it was exhibited at the Salon, but would have been painted out when the bullfighters were separated from the toreador below.
