Technical Assistance (TA)
How Was TA Requested?
Successful TA is built around collaboration. The success
of TA depends greatly on the active participation of its recipients. Within
the Homeless Policy Academy framework, the State team members were expected
to determine and evaluate their TA needs; consider what type of TA was
needed (whether access to materials, workshops, or one-on-one consultation);
and obtain needed TA (whether through the TACT
or independently accessing other TA resources). Clearly understood requests,
goals and objectives and a specific course of action promoted successful
TA. Team members were encouraged to begin by asking, “What types of knowledge,
skills, or support do we need to implement our State team action plan
and accomplish our tasks or goals?”
All State team members were encouraged to be involved
in the development of the TA request; in order to provide the opportunity
for discussion and agreement on the outcomes expected form the assistance
as well as the commitment required from the group in order to achieved
desired outcomes. TA requests were reviewed and processed by project contractors
that were part of the three-pronged TACT structure; if approved, a TA
provider was selected to assist with the State/Territory’s request. The
TA provider worked with the State team lead to explore and understand
fully the TA request(s) and develop a specific plan to address identified
TA needs. Developing the plan was designed as partnership activity in
which the TA provider and State Team Lead collaboratively specified the
State team’s expectations, identified appropriate resources, and determined
the course of action.
NOTE: TA is no longer being offered under this completed project.
