Explanation of Changes - Basic

Direct questions through appropriate facility/service center office staff to the office of primary responsibility (OPR)
 

a. 2-2-14. FACILITY DIRECTIVES REPOSITORY (FDR)

This editorial change corrects reference to FDR to read: Facility Directives Repository.

b. 4-3-1. LETTERS OF AGREEMENT

This change triggers "BRAKING ACTION ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT" on the ATIS when a braking action report of "fair," "poor," or "nil" has been received.

c. CHAPTER 11. NATIONAL PROGRAMS,
SECTION 9. SAFETY LOGIC SYSTEMS SUPERVISOR/CIC PROCEDURES

This change updates the section heading to reflect the revised name of supervisor to front-line manager. This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7210.660, Safety Logic Systems Procedures for Airport Surface Detection Equipment-Model X (ASDE-X) 5.0.7.2 and Airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS), effective June 1, 2007.

d. 11-9-1. SYSTEM OPERATION

This change incorporates ASDE-X Rain Configuration into the safety logic processing, removes references to ASDE-3X, stipulates the procedure to drop a track temporarily from safety logic processing, and updates ASDE-X documentation requirements for FAA Form 7230.4, Daily Record of Facility Operation. This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7210.660, Safety Logic Systems Procedures for Airport Surface Detection Equipment-Model X (ASDE-X) 5.0.7.2 and Airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS), effective June 1, 2007.

e. 11-9-2. ENSURE STATUS

This change updates the requirement for notification and recording status changes to Safety Logic Systems. The title "supervisor" has been changed to "front-line manager." This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7210.660, Safety Logic Systems Procedures for Airport Surface Detection Equipment-Model X (ASDE-X) 5.0.7.2 and Airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS), effective June 1, 2007.

f. 11-9-3. MONITOR ALERTS AND ENSURE CORRECTIVE ACTION

Assigns the front-line manager/CIC the responsibility to ensure the Safety Logic System is monitored and all alerts are correctly documented and reported to Technical Operations. This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7210.660, Safety Logic Systems Procedures for Airport Surface Detection Equipment-Model X (ASDE-X) 5.0.7.2 and Airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS), effective June 1, 2007.

g. 11-9-4. RAIN CONFIGURATION

New paragraph incorporates Rain Configuration for ASDE-X/AMASS and states when system status should be reconfigured. This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7210.660, Safety Logic Systems Procedures for Airport Surface Detection Equipment-Model X (ASDE-X) 5.0.7.2 and Airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS), effective June 1, 2007.

h. 11-9-5. LIMITED CONFIGURATION

Renumbered as paragraph 11-9-5, Limited Configuration, restricts the use of ASDE Safety Logic System Limited Configuration to persistent false alerts, and returns AMASS SLS to full-core alerting when Technical Operations advises all data necessary for analyzing the false alert is obtained. Clarifies full-core alert status in AMASS. This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7210.660, Safety Logic System Procedures for Airport Surface Detection Equipment-Model X (ASDE-X) 5.0.7.2 and Airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS), effective June 1, 2007.

In addition to the added management functions, the NSST has assumed the previous responsibilities of the ATCSCC severe weather specialist. All references to the severe weather unit and severe weather specialist have been replaced with the NSST. This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7210.667, Changes to FAAO 7210.3, Chapter 17, Traffic Management National, Center, and Terminal, effective June 16, 2007.
