National Health Organziations

Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organization (AAPCHO)
AAPCHO provides information for medically underserved Asian and Island Pacific populations. They have many free downloadable education and demographic materials on their website. AAPCHO is involved in many advocacy and legislative efforts which can be viewed on their site.

Asian and Pacific Islander America Health Forum (APIAHF)
APIAHF is a national advocacy organization that promotes policy, programs and research to enhance the well being of Asian America, Pacific Islanders and Native Hawaiians through community based trainings and initiatives. This site provides Census data, fact sheets and bibliographies.

National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association (NAAPIMHA)
NAAPIMHA aims to collect accurate data, identify best practices and service models, increase capacity building and training, conduct research and educational programs. This group has identified several areas of research and risk in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community including youths, the elderly and domestic violence.

National Asian Women's Health Organization (NAWHO)
NAWHO is a national non-profit organization to serve Asian women and families for health equality. They provide research publications available for download for free which highlight studies and initiatives they have created. Their site provides information on their programs, links to health information organizations and information about their mission goals.

The National Task Force on Hepatitis B: Focus on Asians and Pacific Islanders
The National Task Force on Hepatitis B for Asians and Pacific Islanders (API) brings together scientists, health professionals, not-for-profit organizations, and concerned citizens in a concerted effort to eliminate hepatitis B-related mortality and morbidity over the next generation. They provide several reading materials in English and Asian Languages.

Regional Health Organizations

Asian Health Coalition of Illinois (AHCI)
Illinois
AHCI provides education and training to community based organizations. Focuses include advocacy, capacity building and community based research. The site includes free material to download, some in various Asian languages and links to community partners.

Asian and Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS (APICHA)
New York
APICHA provides education to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS in Asian and Pacific Islander communities, and end discrimination and stigma related to the disease. They also provide care services for persons and families affected by HIV/AIDS.

Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center (APIWC)
California
This non-profit organization provides education, advocacy and services for sexual health. Downloadable materials and publications are available for free of charge and in Asian & Pacific Islander languages. Most services are geared towards person living with HIV/AIDS or at risk groups in the Asian and Pacific Islander community.

The Hepatitis B Initiative (HBI)
California
HBI provides a faith-based approach to educate communities about Hepatitis B. The site provides information on vaccinations, testing and statistics. Free video and brochure materials available in Asian languages to download. Provides links for activities in Washington and Boston Massachusetts.


Medical and Health Associations

Asian Pacific Islander Caucus of the American Public Health Association (APIC)
Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, in official relations with APHA, is to address public health issues specifically affecting Asian American and Pacific Islander in the United States and associated jurisdictions. This site highlights the activities of APIC with the American Public Health Association including conference presentations.

Asian American/Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA)
The mission of AAPINA is to identify and support the health care needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in the United States and globally through public policy, collaboration with medical groups and professional development.

South Asian Public Health Association (SAPHA)
This group serves public health professionals in the support of South Asian communities. SAPHA provides a forum for discussion, mentorship, professional development and create awareness about issues and services for South Asian health.


Minority Health Organizations

Cross Cultural Health Care Program (CCHCP)
CCHCP supports community based groups in education, awareness and empowerment in healthcare needs for cultural diverse groups. Some of their services include education for providers in language and cultural competencies. Free educational and training materials are available for download.

Intercultural Cancer Council (ICC)
ICC focuses on racial and ethnic minorities and the unequal burden of caner on these groups. Through policy advocacy and research, this group seeks to make sure that research is conducted on minorities and underserved groups. ICC Develops and participates in culturally specific cancer programs for those groups.

The International Center for Disability Resources on the Internet (ICDRI): Asian & Pacific Islander Disability Issues
ICDIR is a non-profit policy center for and by person with disabilities. Their mission includes providing reliable disability resources via the Internet, outreach, and training. This site includes links to several federal, state, local and community based organization, as well as policies and laws.

The Multicultural Action Plan to Achieve Health Parity (Out of Many, One)
Out of Many, One: Campaign to Eliminate Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health (OMO) is a policy and advocacy group for elimination of health disparities. OMO assists community based organizations, federal, state and local government agencies to build effective multicultural coalitions addressing minority health and health disparities.
