Chief Clinical Consultant for
Orthopedic Medicine

Dr. John Vanderhoof is a United States Public Health Service Officer and the chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center. He is Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Vanderhoof received his bachelor’s degree in physiology from the University of Maryland in 1993. He then graduated from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD in 1998. He completed his orthopedic surgical training at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA in 2003. He joined the Phoenix Indian Medical Center staff in 2003.

Dr. Vanderhoof’s area of interest include the development of the hand surgery program at the PIMC as well as development of an open access orthopedic clinic. Dr. Vanderhoof started the first open access clinic at PIMC. Dr. Vanderhoof currently also is on staff at the Maricopa Medical Center, a level one trauma center, in Phoenix, AZ as one of their orthopedic traumatologists and is the only hand surgeon taking call there. His interests there include minimally invasive surgical repair of fractures as well as comprehensive hand surgical care with the exception of replantation.
