On July 31, 2002, the Honorable G. Wayne Pike became the 35th United States Marshal to serve the citizens of the Western District of Virginia following his appointment by President George W. Bush.   Marshal Pike, a native of Wythe county brings a wealth of knowledge and professionalism to our nation's oldest federal law enforcement agency.  He is a highly decorated law enforcement professional who has served in local, state and federal law enforcement.

Marshal Pike served five terms as the sheriff of Wythe county totaling over 20 years of service.  He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked with the Commonwealth of Virginia Parole Board prior to his appointment as United States Marshal.  He has degrees from both Guilford and Davidson Colleges in North Carolina.  In addition, he has graduated from numerous specialized training schools sponsored by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Marshal Pike resides with his wife Martha in his home county of Wythe near Max Meadows, Virginia.  Marshal Pike has two sons who followed his footsteps into professional law enforcement.  His son Steve is a Lieutenant with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and his son Jeff recently left the Lynchburg Police Department pursuing self employment as a private security consultant.  Like their father, their belief of hard work, fairness and professionalism guide them in their chosen careers.

Marshal Pike is proud to serve the citizens of the Commonwealth and is honored to have been selected as the United States Marshal for the Western District of Virginia.
