Technical Assistance (TA)
What Is TA?
In addition to Policy Academies, in-State Academies, and National Learning
Meetings, the United States Department of Human Services (HHS), the United
States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the United States Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the United States Department of
Labor (DOL), and the United States Department of Education (DOEd) partnered
to develop and provide technical assistance to State and local policy
makers to strengthen and expand their ability to improve access to mainstream
services for people who are homeless.
Technical Assistance (TA) is the provision of direct or indirect support
to increase the capacity of individuals and/or groups carry out programmatic
and management responsibilities. TA included:
- Helping a State team assess when assistance might be needed
- Arranging for peers to share common experiences and helpful resources
- Improving access for, and participation of, impacted populations
in the process
- Providing a specific skills training for State team members, such
as priority setting, and working with State teams to create process-related
strategies to assist with the implementation of action plans.
