T ogether We Can Do So Much

NSA is committed to creating and maintaining a caring and respectful work environment where we can all reach our maximum potential as individuals and optimize our capabilities together as one team. We recognize that diversity awareness and education are essential elements in achieving this goal. Some of the diversity education programs we offer are:

STOKES EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program (formerly known as the Undergraduate Training Program) facilitates the recruitment of minority high school individuals who have demonstrated skills critical to NSA. As a Stokes Program participant you will work at NSA during the summer in areas related to your course of study and after your college graduation for at least one-and-one-half times the length of study.

NSA currently recruits students from all over the country who plan to major in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Foreign Language (Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, or Korean)*.

For more information, visit the Stokes Educational Scholarship Program section.

MANAGING DIVERSITY
This course provides a generic overview of diversity, aiming at the perspective that valuing and managing diversity in a fair way leads to great potential strength to all. Participants learn about creative leadership tools that will help them manage diversity in the workplace.

DIVERSITY AWARENESS TRAINING
This course is directed toward individuals who serve or may serve on boards, panels, or committees charged with the responsibility of rating employees for selection purposes. This course is designed to make board members aware of and sensitive to internal biases, blind spots, assumptions, and other conditioning from society that can have an impact on selection decisions. Participants are lead through a series of cumulative learning experiences that deepen their understanding of themselves and others in their work environment, giving them an opportunity to appreciate the contributions of a diverse workforce.

DISABILITY AWARENESS
This presentation and video focuses on recognizing, understanding, and dealing with disabilities in the workplace.

GENDER COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP
This course focuses on gender issues in the workplace. Diversity issues addressed include personality styles, communication styles, and how men and women are treated differently in society.

COLOR OF FEAR WORKSHOP
The "Color of Fear" is a documentary film produced and directed by Lee Mun Wah. This film is reflective of the pain and anguish that racism has caused in the lives of eight North American men of Asian, European, Latino, and African decent. This course helps students understand the reality of racism today and teaches them to promote an atmosphere of continued healing in the work environment.
