Today in Gallery History
On January 13, 1967, three "lost" paintings by Rembrandt, Ter Borch, and Tischbein were exhibited at the National Gallery of Art. The paintings had been stolen from the Weimar Museum on April 28, 1922, by two German soldiers and were later found in an Ohio attic. After the exhibition, the paintings were returned to Germany.
