Puyallup Tribal Health Authority, located in Tacoma, WA, is looking for a part-time Psychiatrist to work in our Mental Health Department. JOB TITLE: Psychiatrist [.8 FTE] REPORTS TO: Program Director OPEN DATE: September 5, 2008 CLOSE DATE: Open Until Filled GENERAL FUNCTION: Provide consultation for staff and direct client services to Kwawachee Counseling Center. As needed and appropriate, provide consultation to other clinical departments within the PTHA. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Consult with Kwawachee and other identified Departments related to treatment of Patients on caseload. • Provide psychiatric services to clientele. • Provide clinical supervision to other Medication providers, when appropriate and identified. • Participate in the development of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures on best practice treatment for mental health patients at Kwawachee and other PTHA departments. • Participate as needed in Quality Improvement activities and in administration functions within the PTHA. • Participate in trainings related to cultural competence. ________________________________________ MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS [EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE]: Doctorate of Medicine from an accredited institution. Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Washington. Five years experience in practice as a board certified Psychiatrist. ________________________________________ KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Sensitivity to and knowledge of Indian customs, traditions, and culture. Knowledge of current principals and practices of the professional health care and education delivery system. Knowledge of current medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment practices and procedures. Strong communication skills. Able to educate others. Able to act independently. Strong written, verbal, and group communication skills. Strong negotiation and problem resolution skills.
